15-Minute Cheddar Cheese Spread

Jump to recipe ▼

Ingredients (~6-8 servings)

  • 1 1/2 cups freshly-grated sharp cheddar cheese, room temperature
  • 6 oz full-fat cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 tsp ground mustard
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper (or black pepper)
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • 2 tsp freshly-snipped chives, for garnish
  • Pretzel chips, crackers, and/or veggies for serving

Combine Everything in a Food Processor

Add the 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, 6 oz cream cheese, 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 3/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 3/4 tsp ground mustard, 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp cayenne, 1/4 tsp white pepper, and a pinch of kosher salt to the bowl of a food processor.

Make sure both cheeses are at room temperature – cold cream cheese will leave lumps no matter how long you process it.

Process Until Smooth and Fluffy

Whip the ingredients in the food processor until the spread is fluffy and smooth, ~3-4 minutes.

Scrape down the sides of the bowl every minute or so to make sure everything gets incorporated evenly.

The mixture will go from chunky to completely smooth – you’ll know it’s ready when it looks like store-bought cheese spread but way better.

Taste and add more spices if needed; I usually add a bit more cayenne.

Serve with Fresh Chives

Spread the dip into a shallow bowl and garnish with the 2 tsp fresh chives.

Serve immediately with pretzel chips, crackers, veggies, or whatever dippers you have on hand.

The spread will keep in the fridge for up to a week – just bring it back to room temperature before serving since it firms up when cold.

15-Minute Cheddar Cheese Spread

This spread is way better than the store-bought stuff and takes literally 15 minutes to make. It’s perfect for when you need an appetizer that actually tastes homemade without much effort.
