Whopper Cookies

Jump to recipe ▼

Ingredients (~18 cookies)

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup + 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp malted milk powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup malted milk balls, coarsely chopped

Cream the Butter and Sugars

In a large bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.

Mix with an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy – this takes ~3-4 minutes of actual mixing.

The mixture should look pale and creamy when ready.

Add the Wet Ingredients

Beat in the egg and vanilla until well combined.

Make sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl so everything gets incorporated evenly.

Mix in the Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, malted milk powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add this dry mixture to the butter mixture and stir until just combined – don’t overmix or the cookies will be tough.

Fold in the Chocolate and Malted Milk Balls

Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped malted milk balls using a wooden spoon or spatula.

For the malted milk balls, you want them broken into chunks but not powdered – aim for pieces about half the size of the original candy.

Bake the Cookies

Preheat your oven to 375F.

Scoop the dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving ~2 inches between each cookie.

Bake for ~8-10 minutes until the edges are set and lightly golden – the centers might look slightly underbaked but they’ll finish cooking on the hot pan.

Let them cool on the baking sheet for ~2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Whopper Cookies

These cookies taste like malted milk balls but in cookie form – the malted milk powder really makes them stand out from regular chocolate chip cookies.
