Easy Spinach Dip

Jump to recipe ▼

Ingredients (~12 servings)

  • 1 1/4 cups sour cream
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 3/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 package (10 oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
  • 3 Tbsp minced chives, plus more for garnish
  • Carrot and celery sticks, for serving
  • Blue corn tortilla chips or crackers, for serving
  • French bread or baguette, for serving

Drain the Spinach Really Well

Take the thawed spinach and put it in a clean kitchen towel or several paper towels.

Twist it up and squeeze the heck out of it – you want to get as much water out as possible.

If you don’t do this step well, your dip will be watery and thin. Keep squeezing until barely any liquid comes out when you press hard.

Mix Everything Together

In a large bowl, combine the sour cream, mayo, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, cayenne, mustard, and Worcestershire.

Stir until smooth, then add the squeezed-out spinach and chives.

Mix everything together until well combined – the spinach should be evenly distributed throughout.

Let it Sit and Serve

Let the dip sit for ~10 minutes so the flavors can blend together.

The onion and garlic powders need a few minutes to hydrate and develop their full flavor.

Sprinkle with extra chives on top and serve with whatever you like – carrots, celery, chips, or chunks of bread all work great.

Easy Spinach Dip

This is a basic spinach dip that takes ~15 minutes to throw together and uses stuff I always have around – sour cream, mayo, and frozen spinach. It’s cheap, simple, and works for any gathering where you need something people can just grab and eat.
