Ingredients (~12 servings)
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 1/2 Tbsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp table salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 bottle (12 oz) beer, room temperature
- 3 Tbsp butter, melted, plus extra for greasing
Prep Your Loaf Pan and Oven
Preheat your oven to 375F.
Butter a 9×5 inch loaf pan – you want good coverage so the bread doesn’t stick.
Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the sifted flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Make sure everything is well combined before adding the wet ingredients.
Add Beer and Combine
Pour in the entire bottle of beer and stir just until the ingredients come together.
Don’t overmix here – the batter should be thick and won’t look perfectly smooth. A few lumps are totally fine and actually what you want for tender bread.
Transfer to Pan and Add Butter
Spoon the batter into your prepared loaf pan and spread it out so it reaches all four corners.
Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top – this creates a nice golden crust as it bakes.
Bake Until Golden
Bake for ~40-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
The exact timing depends on your pan and oven, but most loaves finish around the 45 minute mark.
Cool Before Slicing
Let the bread cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack.
Slice when it’s slightly warm or at room temperature – cutting it too hot will make it gummy.
