Honey Garlic Wings

Jump to recipe ▼

Ingredients (~8 servings)

  • 3 lbs chicken wings (cut into drumettes and flats)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 3/4 tsp coarse salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 3 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 3/4 tsp sesame oil
  • 3/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp toasted sesame seeds (optional)
  • 3/4 tsp parsley, chopped (optional)

Season and Prep the Wings

Preheat your oven to 400F.

Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels – any moisture will prevent them from getting crispy.

Put the wings in a large bowl and drizzle the olive oil over them. Toss to coat everything evenly.

Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and garlic powder over the wings. Toss again so all the wings are well seasoned.

Bake the Wings Until Crispy

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the wings out in a single layer.

Don’t overcrowd them or they’ll steam instead of getting crispy.

Bake for 40-45 minutes until the wings are golden brown and reach ~165F internal temperature.

The skin should be crispy when you press into it – if it’s still soft, give them another 5 minutes.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

During the last few minutes of the wings cooking, make your sauce.

In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, sesame oil, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes.

Heat over medium-low heat and simmer for ~3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

The sauce is ready when it starts to thicken slightly and coats the back of a spoon.

Toss Wings in Sauce and Serve

Transfer the cooked wings to a clean bowl – don’t use the same bowl you used for the raw chicken.

Pour the warm sauce over the wings and toss until everything is well coated.

Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and chopped parsley if you’re using them.

Serve immediately while the wings are still hot and the sauce is sticky.

Honey Garlic Wings

These wings get crispy in the oven without any frying, and the honey garlic sauce is sticky and savory without being too sweet. I like to make extra sauce because it’s good on everything.
