Ingredients (~4 servings)
For the Cocktail
- 4 oz Peppermint schnapps (1/2 cup)
- 4 oz Vodka (1/2 cup)
- 4 oz Kahlua (1/2 cup)
- Milk, Half & half, or heavy cream, to top
- Ice
For the Candy Cane Rim (Optional)
- 4-6 candy canes
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
Notes on Ingredients
You can use either peppermint schnapps or creme de menthe. Creme de menthe is typically sweeter, while peppermint schnapps has a stronger, sharper mint flavor.
The choice of dairy just depends on how rich you want the drink. Heavy cream will give you a thick, decadent cocktail, while milk will be much lighter. Half & half is a good balance between the two.
Prepare the Rim (Optional)
If you are rimming the glasses, place the candy canes in a plastic bag. Use a rolling pin to crush them into small pieces and pour them onto a small plate.
Combine the sugar and water in a small bowl. If the sugar doesn’t dissolve, you can heat it in the microwave for ~15-20 seconds.
Dip the rim of four lowball glasses into the sugar-water, and then dip the wet rims into the crushed candy canes until they are coated.
Make the Drinks
Pour 1 oz (2 Tbsp) each of the peppermint schnapps, vodka, and Kahlua into each of the prepared glasses.
Fill each glass with ice cubes.
Top off each drink with your choice of milk, half & half, or heavy cream and stir to combine.
