Homemade Lasagna
This is my go-to lasagna recipe when I want to impress people without getting too fancy. It uses a simple meat sauce, three cheeses, and takes about 2 hours start to finish.

Ingredients
Meat Sauce

or 1/2 lb beef + 1/2 lb mild Italian sausage

Cheese Mixture

whole milk ricotta cheese

grated Parmesan

Assembly

dried lasagna noodles
▢
~5 cups shredded mozzarella
Instructions
Brown ground beef, onions, and garlic in skillet over medium-high heat for 8 minutes.
Add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, seasonings; simmer covered 15-20 minutes.
Boil lasagna noodles until al dente, about 8 minutes; drain and rinse.
Mix ricotta, egg, Parmesan, basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Preheat oven to 375F.
Layer in 9x13 dish: sauce, noodles, sauce, ricotta, mozzarella. Repeat 3 times.
Top final layer with remaining sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan.
Cover with foil, bake 30 minutes.
Uncover, bake additional 20 minutes until cheese browns and sauce bubbles.
Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
First slice may be messy; subsequent pieces will cut cleanly.
