Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies have crisp edges and gooey, chocolate-packed centers. The dough is made with melted butter and requires an hour of chilling, which deepens the flavor.

Ingredients

Ingredients (18 cookies)

  • 1/2 cup + 2 Tbsp unsalted butter 113g, melted
  • 1/2 cup + 1 Tbsp packed light brown sugar 113g
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar 67g
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup + 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour 135g
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 27g
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chips 135g

Instructions

  • Melt butter and cool for 5 minutes.
  • Whisk brown sugar and granulated sugar with melted butter until combined.
  • Add egg and vanilla extract, whisk until smooth.
  • In separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Cover and chill dough for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350F and line baking sheet with parchment.
  • Scoop 3-tablespoon dough balls, place 2-3 inches apart on baking sheet.
  • Bake 14-16 minutes until edges are set.
  • Cool on baking sheet 5 minutes before transferring to wire rack.

Notes

Makes 18 cookies. Use room temperature egg for best results.
