Comeback Sauce

This tangy Southern sauce works great on fried seafood, salads, or as a dip for vegetables. It's basically remoulade's cousin with a little more kick.

Ingredients (~7 servings, 2 tablespoons each)

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise Duke's or Hellmann's
  • 2 Tbsp ketchup

  • 1/8 tsp freshly-ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp fresh lemon juice plus more to taste
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp hot sauce or more to taste

Instructions

  • Whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, chili sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, paprika, lemon juice, and hot sauce in a medium bowl until smooth.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to let flavors meld.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with additional hot sauce or lemon juice if desired before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Overnight chilling yields best flavor.
