Bakery-Style Brownie M&M Cookies
These are rich, brownie-like cookies that don't require a mixer. The dough comes together in one bowl before a mandatory chill, which helps develop the fudgy texture and prevents the cookies from spreading too much in the oven.

Ingredients
Ingredients (12 large cookies)

155g unsalted butter
11 Tbsp, melted

150g brown sugar
3/4 cup, packed

150g granulated sugar
3/4 cup

room temperature

vanilla extract

200g all-purpose flour
1 2/3 cups

50g dark or Dutch-processed cocoa powder
1/2 cup

85g mini chocolate chips
scant 1/2 cup

90g M&Ms
scant 1/2 cup, plus more for the tops
Instructions
Melt butter in large bowl and let cool 5 minutes.
Whisk in both sugars until combined.
Add egg and vanilla, whisk until smooth and glossy.
Whisk in baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Fold in flour and cocoa powder until nearly combined.
Mix in chocolate chips and M&Ms until dough forms.
Cover and chill dough for 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 350F and line baking sheet with parchment.
Scoop 1/4 cup (75g) dough balls and space 2-3 inches apart.
Press extra M&Ms on top if desired.
Bake 11-13 minutes until edges set but centers soft.
Cool on baking sheet 5 minutes before transferring to wire rack.
Notes
Dough must be chilled for proper texture. Makes 12 large cookies.
